About The Fields of Long Grove

Located both North and South of Gilmer Rd, west of Diamond Lake Rd and just east of North Krueger Rd, the development has a homeowner’s association and provides many features and benefits not otherwise found in the area including a community sanitary and storm water drainage systems.  For a monthly fee the association provides homeowners with water from community wells, lawn mowing and fertilizing, snow removal on streets, driveways and front walks, road maintenance, landscaping including scheduled shrub trimming, maintenance of the stocked lakes and beach, mosquito abatement, walking paths and a cable TV package.  A full-time property manager resides on-site and oversees all maintenance related matters.

Long Grove is home to one of the best examples of a “countryside” neighborhood at the Fields of Long Grove. The Fields is a cluster of 86 homes, or what is known as a PUD (“planned unit development,”) on approximately 180 acres, much of which are natural prairie lands.  The PUD focused on preserving the beauty of the natural prairie, with walking trails, ponds and a neighborhood beach.  The Village of Long Grove has acknowledged that the Fields is one of the best examples of the village’s first master plan of 1957, which called for the preservation of the area’s rural character, open land and natural beauty.

Homes in the Fields range from about 2,400 square feet to over 4,000 square feet some featuring large great rooms and first floor master suites, large decks or screened porches.  Every lot has a magnificent view of nature and many enjoy serene water views.  Originally developed in the late 1980’s it appealed to empty-nesters, but many families currently live in the Fields.  Neighborhood children attend nearby Country Meadows Elementary and Woodlawn Middle Schools and award-winning Stevenson High School or Carmel High School. The homes in the neighborhood currently range upwards from the high $500,000’s and appeals to those looking for a quality built home in a natural setting, without the minimum one acre lot required in most Long Grove subdivisions.

The Fields of Long Grove is truly a hidden gem.  Sheltered from the main roads by a natural prairie buffer, the Fields maintains its rural character and provides privacy to the residents. More than 4 miles of walking paths run throughout the conservancy area and along the water. You will find many of the residents regularly walking the paths and in warmer weather enjoying boating or fishing on the ponds.
